Deep Roots

Trakų St. 14, Vilnius

Trakų str. 14 is in a historic complex of buildings. The building was first mentioned in 1636 as Wodoradzki's manor on Franciscans’ land. Initially, it had five rooms, a cellar, a bathhouse, and a brewery. Destroyed by Muscovites in 1655, it was rebuilt and eventually sold in parts. Ownership passed through various noble families, with precise records from the mid-18th century. After the fire of 1748, the land was sold to Antanas Ožeška, who later transferred it to the Franciscans due to debt. By the late 18th century, it was called a palace and belonged to the Radvila family, later passing to Marija Moravska. The building deteriorated, was sold in parts, and by 1944, it was bombarded and demolished in 1957.

Today, the restaurant Deep Roots is located here, born from a desire to bring together personal experiences, family histories, and the flavors of Lithuanian products. Its menu is created using local ingredients grown at the “Farmers Circle” farm, combining tradition with contemporary interpretations of taste.
